Learning Matters

Learning is at the heart of high quality patient and client care, and we know that teams who are learning get better outcomes. Everyone Matters: 2020 Workforce Vision is the workforce development strategy for all staff. You will recognise the NHS values which are at the core of the strategy.

NHS Education for Scotland NES) have three key aims in supporting "Everyone Matters"

  1. To make sense of the qualifications in Scotland which support HCSW role development
  2. To increase access to learning and development opportunities for HCSWs
  3. To support KSF/ Personal Development Plan conversations which are both meaningful and relevant

We do this in this website and our sister site for managers who are developing their teams  HCSW Toolkit.  We are supported through our HCSW Advisory Group in making sure we prioritise what matters to HCSWs about their learning. 

In NHSScotland we have developed a national approach to learning and development for support workers in nursing, midwifery and allied health professions.  You can download copies of these documents, or contact the team hcsw@nes.scot.nhs.uk for copies of the document.
